Up for sale is a Buescher aristocrat series 1, the art deco model. Serial is 281340 that places build year in 1937/38. This horn looked a little bit abandoned when I got it , so it took me a bit longer to test play it because I had to get it clean and replace the neck cork. When I got all the dust and smell off it actually looks really good. I didnt polish it, just cleaned it but its already shining nicely.
Looks like the bell is still clean from tarnish except for a few tiny spots. The engraving is all there, I think it faded a bit. Some tarnish is in back of instrument , with more little spots (see pic) and some rust. I took the rust of the neck w a non toxic natural product that did not hurt the lacquer , but the rust got to it already so youll see a lighter color on one side of the neck where the rust spot used to be. This color might turn a little more yellow in a few days , but the lacquer at that spot is probably almost gone (see pics).
Theres also rust removed inside the bell that left a lighter color. Also tarnish on some of the rods. You will have to get that fixed , but its a minor thing. FYI I noticed the pads still look good, I think the pads for the high D E F are from a different brand than the others because I see no resonators , just pads that are slightly darker.
I notice that the keyguard for the D# did its job , it looks like it took a blow and is slightly bend, also I notice a slight dent under the thumb rest(see pics). Note :This instrument effortlessly looks shiny and almost new in the pictures , just please keep in mind it is not a new horn - it is vintage so there will always be some tarnish.
These are pictures of the instrument taken in daylight, there are no filters used to manipulate the color. The instrument has a real nice yellow gold tone to it, but when Im closer to the instrument for the engraving picture youll notice it gets a blue/green shine on the pictures but thats because Im so close to the instrument, the instrument itself is yellow gold. This instrument comes with the case and the Mouthpiece that are both in used condition, also theres a original neck plug(see pic)and neck strap. The Mouthpiece is vintage but is unbranded , the hard case is black on outside and blue on inside, usable but has some skuffs from traveling, not the original case.
