Conn New Wonder I Artist Special Gold Plated Alto sax Stunning engraving
1923 Conn New Wonder I Artist Special. Gold plated - Stunning engraving. Conn didn't have serial on the necks.

PADS: New with domed metal resonators. CASE: Unoriginal hardshell bag/ case in very nice condition. Pearl rollers (one roller replaced by white plastic, Low Eb). Round springs : All new blue steel.

This saxophone has been fully rebuilt. Stunning razor blade sharp engraving of a mermaid and apparently the devil himself... Imagine the symbolic's meaning.. Conn saxophones from this period are noted for their fine engraving work, sometimes featuring a woman's portrait, a building in a landscape but to find the devil engraved in combination with a mermaid is not everyday to find! The engraving is likely to be made by one of the talented engravers at Conn like Jake Gardner, Charles Stenberg or Julius Stenberg. Conn decided to stop using custom engraving at the end of 1920's. These rare custom engravings was done as a piece of art and it's reason to believe that all of them are one of a kind. The intonation on this one is good and the Conn New Wonder I is by many saxophone players rated above the successor Conn New Wonder II (Chu Berry). What you see is what you get! 2 VIDEO's of actual sax at the links below. If there is a problem, please contact me before leaving a feedback. I will work with you to resolve any issues!
