This rare Couesnon saxpohone is in great condition and comes with a remarkably nice set of original accessories: Couesnon mouthpiece, ligature, cap, lyre music holder, end plug -- and even a Couesnon reed! It also includes the case and a wonderful Brilhart neck strap. Made around 1958 in France, this horn boasts many features to set it apart from the Selmer Mark VI that was its competition at the time: rolled tone holes, double-socket neck (like King Super 20 and Conn 6M), a selectable G#-C# linkage, Art Deco keys and styling, wraparound bell-bow key guard with "C" logos and pearl accents, and riveted flat metal resonators.
This example is in very nice cosmetic shape sporting original lacquer, beautiful bell engraving, most pads are original with traces of original lacquer overspray on them. Couesnon Monopole Conservatoire Alto 91xx. As you can see from the photos this alto has been very well preserved. Of course its beautiful sound has made music over the years and the horn shows some signs of wear, so you'll find find some scratches, dings, dents, nicks, worn and missing lacquer, patina and discoloration throughout the horn, and evidence of past repairs such as dents removed and a key guard post resoldered. The case is in good working condition and both outside latches fasten securely though they don't spring open, and the exterior and interior have scuffs and scratches throughout.
