Rare Vintage Martin Handcraft Alto Sax. Excellent Cond. Beautiful Instrument

Martin "Handcraft" Alto saxophone in excellent condition. This was the top-of-the-line Professional alto sax produced in the USA by Martin, on a par with Conn and Buescher. Please read this description carefully and examine the photos.

The sax has a good gold lacquer with nickel keys, and looks very nice. Intonation is excellent, the action is fast, and the tone is rich and warm - Martins were particularly prized for their tonal quality. The only significant (repaired) damage is a dent in the bow which has been taken out, losing lacquer in that area as a result. Happily, this is in a place which can't be seen when it is being played (see final photo). Apart from that, the rest of the horn is as A1 as could be hoped for an 85 year-old sax.

I have had it for several years - I was told that it had been repadded not long before I bought it, and I've never had reason to doubt that. I had it serviced in June, and it plays very well except for some "bubbling" on the low B and Bb - my problem is that I have too many instruments and too little opportunity to play them, so they tend to dry out a bit in storage. It comes in a decent (non-original) case. There is no mouthpiece with the sax. I'm sorry to part with this lovely alto, but I've still got a silver-plated one, and a handcraft tenor, too, so I really don't need it; I hope someone else will use it and get pleasure out of it!
