Most of these were laq, some of these were silver and very very very few were gold plate. Let alone gold plate with amazing engraving. The way the Selmer factory gold plate glistens under the lights and sun is just gorgeous. While this saxophone is beautiful this horn is almost 100 years old and is an extremely used and patina'd antique! This saxophone has its fair share of scratches, Knicks , dings, dents, fleabites, gold plate loss, metal wear, patina, weld marks, repair marks, metal wear of weird black colors, and other anomalies associated with such a used horn.Take a look at the pictures very clearly! There is a huge blackish colored patina mark right next to the logo. I have shown this in the photos really clear! The saxophone appears to have had past repair work done around the body tenon and neck.
Overall this horn is extremely used, but the factory gold plate and engraving still pops this horn off! At one point not that long ago it feels like someone tried to setup the horn on its current setup. The horn is somewhat playable, but to use this as a great gigging horn your going to for sure want to bring this to your local saxophone tech for a full setup or overhaul!
