SELMER Limited Edition Adolphe Sax alto saxophone
For saxophonists all around the world, the names SAX and SELMER are intimately linked. A shared history built upon an affiliation begun in 1929, when Henri SELMER Paris bought the Adolphe Sax Company. The production of a limited edition alto saxophone celebrates the bicentenary of the birth of this great inventor, and the 130th anniversary of Henri SELMER Paris. This anniversary model pays particular attention to design and modern ergonomic comfort, inspired by the models that have come before: wire key guards, brace, octave key, connecting rings, pearl rollers.. In the past, Selmer Paris has offered many different Limited Edition horns (Millenium Model, Tribute to Bird Series, etc) that have, for the most part, been nothing more than cosmetic changes to existing models (different engraving, unique finish). With the Limited edition, Selmer Paris has designed a unique instrument that is not like anything that Selmer Paris has made before.

While it is true that many parts on this Limited Edition sax are shared parts with other models of Selmer Paris saxophones, there are an outstanding number of truly unique parts that were made exclusively for this tribute model. From the octave mechanism to the unique bracings, truly custom keyguards and even the all metal finger touches, the 130th Anniversary model is a truly unique saxophone worthy of being called a Limited Edition.

This model was further rounded out with the use of white pads without resonators, paying tribute to the original saxophone designs. White leather pads with rivets, without resonator. Features inspired by the'Model 22', including a neck octave key and U-shape body/bell brace.

Octave key spatula inspired by the'Balanced Action. Wire key guards and nickel silver finger buttons inspired by the original'Adolphe Sax' instruments. A new key guard design. The composition of the body really embraces the vintage era of saxophone making but keeps all the positives and playability of the modern day sax. Each part from the brace between the body and bell, wire key guards to the pearl key rollers add to the mystique of the instrument. I also like the Nickel silver finger buttons which are again reminiscent of the old Adolph sax horns. As well as the great cosmetics, It is clear that when Selmer designed this horn they really focused on the quality and richness of the vintage sound. The Adolphe gives the user a free blowing experience with a perfect amount of resistance resulting in a warm, round and beautiful vintage tone. The whole thing is incredibly easy to control from top to bottom and a real joy to play. It is another step forward for Selmer in continuing in their great saxophone tradition. From the technical side, the saxophone has been checked in the service, it is 100% functional and ready to play. The only thing I noticed is that the neck could have been painted because it has a slightly different shade from the body, otherwise the saxophone is in perfect condition.
