My saxophone tech applied a coat of Music Medic Pad Juice to the original pads--which has slightly darkened the original leather, the horn is now playing very strongly on the original pads and setup. There is no lacquer wear I can see on any of the left hand palm keys or left hand table, nor is there wear on the right hand side keys, low C or Eb keys. The left hand octave key has no lacquer wear. There is a very small scratch on the bell and a minute one on the bow, these are hard to photograph they are so small. One foot on the lower Eb key guard looks to have been resoldered 45 years ago, and there is a small area of lacquer bleeding around the right hand thumb rest--from the factory soldering work. Mentioning these details is like pointing out freckles on a super model, this horn is stunning, I have never seen a mkvi saxophone as immaculate as this one.
The bell has beautiful American engraving, and the horn features a high F# key, which is useful for classical players, the original zipper case is in excellent condition. This is not just a cosmetically beautiful saxophone, it is also an outstanding player. Mark vi altos from this serial range are some of the best playing saxophones Selmer ever made.
