The 23 series of Saxophones is one of Yamahas top ranges for students. The YAS is the Alto option. I remember walking by Dr. Bell's office every day in 4th grade waiting for this saxophone to come in and when it finally did, I was so excited! Over the years I treated it well and it has treated me well.

I was able to obtain 1st chair in grade school and then made it to the heights of 2nd chair in a more competitive jr. My specialty was playing scales by memory but I had a hard time learning to play by ear so I decided to stop in 9th grade. I would occasionally take it out to play Christmas music at church in high school but other than that it has been sitting in its case. It is still in good condition although it will need some pads replaced to play like it used to.

I don't believe it affects the function at all. It comes with a case that has held up well with normal wear and tear.
