This is the Wonder Improved model, dating all the way back to about 1901. It is stamped simply C. G Conn Elkhart IND New York on the bell.
These horns were originally bare brass, though this one has been lacquered at some point in the far past. It is in decent overall condition, a few little dings or dimples here and there but no major previous damage or work. The neck probably originally had a microtuner but this has been removed and done well. Pads are old and will need to be replaced if you want to try to play it, but lets face it, this is more a collector's piece than anything else. It shows a very early example of a Conn saxophone.
Though the keywork is laid out in roughly the same place, it is amazing to see what has changed. From little things like the placement of palm keys, to major changes like the pinky cluster, lack of pearls on the key touches, etc. This is a great piece to add to the collection.
